Apple Season Smoothie

Apple Season Smoothie

A sweet, yet sugar-free, vegan smoothie brought to you by the letter A

A is for Abundance of Apples

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/4 c apple cider
  • 1/4 c unsweetened original almond milk
  • 1 T peanut butter or 2 T PB2
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1/2 t vanilla
  • 1/2 t Pumpkin pie spice mix
  • The teensiest bit of salt (optional, it just makes the other flavors stand out a bit, but don’t overdo it)

You will need:

  • Blender

Directions:

Blend it up, please

Alternatives:

  • You could substitute the apple cider for unsweetened applesauce for a thicker texture
  • If you’re feeling more calorie conscious than budget or eco conscious you could use PB 2 instead of peanut butter. It is peanuts with 90% of the fat taken out. The downside is that there is some sugar and salt added, and it is not organic. It also is a bit expensive ($5.75 at my local co-op).
  • You could also substitute the peanut butter for almond butter or sunflower seed butter
