Leftover mint leaves? Don’t throw them away or leave them to waste – make tea! Homemade peppermint tea is extremely easy AND is the best way to use up excess mint. The great thing is that once you dry the leave you can use them in tea or as dried herbs in your cooking.
Mint has a ton of uses and varieties with the most popular being peppermint. For years peppermint has been made into tea due to its reported health benefits. It is believed to help with: stomach cramps, sinus, headaches and menstrual cramps. On top of the benefits it tastes great and is a wonderful 3pm pick-me-up at work!
You can dry your herbs in many ways, the most popular being air or oven. Preferably I would choose air however as it’s winter so oven was the way to go!
WHAT YOU NEED
- Pre-heat your oven to the lowest temperature possible
- Pick your mint leaves and place onto a lined baking tray in one layer (not over lapping)
- Bake for 30mins until crisp
- Remove from oven, cool and store in an airtight container.
- Enjoy as tea by adding several leaves to hot water with honey.
