Watermelon Smoothie

Watermelon Smoothie

I am quite intrigued by these frosted watermelon cakes that I have been seeing on Pinterest. I may try to make one sometime this summer, but for now I’m hooked on watermelon with cinnamon sprinkled over it! It’s DELICIOUS!

Watermelon Rind Juice:

Watermelon rinds contain high levels of antioxidants, as well as the amino acid citrulline which is known to improve blood flow. So if you have a juicer, save your rinds and make some watermelon rind juice!

Watermelon Smoothie
Ingredients:

  • 2 cups watermelon – Chunked
  • 1 cup Frozen Strawberries
  • 1 Banana*

*Note: For the first time, the banana may not be necessary, but I put it in to be safe.

Optional Ingredients:

* Adding the optional ingredients will change the flavour of the smoothie, more so with this smoothie, than others.

  • 1/3 English cucumber – Seeds removed
  • 4 Sticks Celery
  • 2 cups Fresh Spinach
  • 4 tbs Hemp Protein Powder

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients to your blender, and blend until smooth.

Cutting Your Watermelon For Smoothies:

  • Cut the watermelon into quarters
  • Make slices 1 inch apart down the length, and the width of the watermelon to make 1 inch cubes.
  • Make sure you are cutting all the way to the rind
  • Use a spoon to scoop the watermelon cubes directly into your blender

Enjoy!
