Why has no one told me that puff pastry is so incredibly delicious? And nevermind that, why hasn’t anyone mentioned how easy it is to use?
Seriously, bought some pears and puff pastry early Saturday morning and by late Saturday morning, this was out of the oven, done and ready to eat! I am not even exaggerating.
I had a crazy long to do list this weekend: a stop at Home Depot for paint, grocery shopping, laundry up the wazoo, cleaning plus cooking all my blog recipes for the week. Top that all off with a super bored dog that wanted someone to play with her.
This easy pear puff pastry tart was a welcomed treat after that long day.
Simply go buy some puff pastry, remove it from the packaging and sit it out to unthaw for about 45 minutes (or for me the time it takes to throw in two loads of laundry).
Once it’s soft, roll it out to just a bit, enough to make the surface area of your tart large enough for three rows of fruit. Add you sliced pears (or any fruit of your choosing), drizzle with your brown sugar and butter mixture, throw in the oven for 15 minutes and you have yourself an easy pear tart that will taste like you bought it from your local bakery.
This makes me happy!
Ingredients
- 3 pears, cored and sliced
- 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon raw sugar, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Place puff pastry on a lightly floured surface, and roll out until just wide enough for three rows of sliced pears. Place the pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Mix well.
- Spoon a portion of the mixture on the top of the puff pastry, spreading with the back of the spoon and leaving about ½” border.
- Lay the pear slices on top of the puff pastry and drizzle the remaining butter mixture over top of the pears.
- Sprinkle with the raw sugar and bake for 15-18 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly,
- Serve with vanilla ice cream, greek yogurt or whipped cream.
