These chocolate turtle cookies are one of our favorite kinds of cookies to make together. My kids can stir all of the ingredients together and then they love watching them go into the waffle maker as blobs of dough and come out as yummy, turtle shell shaped cookies. Best of all they cook in just a few minutes. So not only are these cookies chocolaty and delicious, but they are easy, fast and fun!
Chocolate Waffle Turtle Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
Directions
- Heat waffle maker to medium.
- Whisk together 2 Tablespoons melted butter and cocoa.
- Add 1/3 cup melted butter and whisk together.
- Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Whisk.
- Add sugar and flour. Stir until combined.
- Scoop out cookies and place on heated waffle maker, one scoop per waffle square. (I don’t spray my waffle maker with non-stick spray.)
- Bake 2-4 minutes. Cookies should still be soft. Carefully remove by loosening cookies on each side before lifting up.
- Place cookies in an airtight container to keep soft.
Notes
Too make sure you get soft cookies, remove the cookies from the waffle maker as soon as they’re just firm enough to carefully lift up. If you let them bake too long they will be crunchy once they cool.
